Meet Theresa
Theresa P is a -year-old Theresa P. [9-30-2025] is a 20-year-old
orphan with a heart for helping others. She is currently studying Social Work at Christ the King University
in Gingoog City, following God’s call to serve those in need.
Kind, gentle, considerate, and brave, Theresa is a shining example of faith and perseverance.
Theresa’s journey has not been easy. Her mother, Jecel, passed away from a thyroid storm when Theresa was just nine years old. Jecel was only 34.
Before her passing, she had remarried a kind man, and together they had three sons — Theresa’s younger brothers. After Jecel’s death,
Theresa’s extended family took her in, but life was difficult. She moved from one household to another and was often expected to work hard
just to earn her keep. Through these hardships, Theresa endured mistreatment and emotional pain, yet she never lost her faith.
Now as an adult, Theresa lives at the church, where she assists Nedy, the youth and music minister. She is active in the local youth group and is highly recommended by church leaders for college sponsorship. God continues to move powerfully in her heart and life, shaping her into a young woman of deep compassion and resilience.
Here is a note from Theresa in her own words:
"I'm going to study social work at the Christ the King University here in Gingoog City. I like music and admiring God's creation, watching the beautiful sky, mountains, and sea. It is satisfying to the soul, the beauty is so good, it is imperfect, but yet WOW! My life is not as easy, yet God never lets me down. He loves me and cares for me despite my behavior. I have learned I should not worry about anything, but pray for it and trust God, for the Lord will bless me with His love and my future is in His hands and I know It will be good."

Jeremiah 29:11 : 'For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord plans to prosper you and not to harm you plans to give you hope and a future.'

Meet Maki
Maki, , was born and raised in Pandan Village, a squatter community outside
of Gingoog City.
His father was a simple fisherman, catching a small local fish called tamban to support their family.
When we first met Maki, he had dropped out of school and was one of the local youth hanging around the village—lost and without direction.
Over time, he began to get involved in the music ministry and the basketball team, where he found belonging and purpose.
Eventually, Marko had the privilege of leading Maki to the Lord, and his life was transformed.
Since then, Maki has been faithfully serving and working at Subangan since its beginning in 2012, continuing steadfastly to this day.
Determined to grow, he even returned to school to complete his education through a local GED-type program.
Maki now works full-time at Subangan Cares, where he:

Meet Jhocery
Jhocery is a mother of eight and a woman whose heart burns with passion for serving Jesus. Her story of faith began in an unexpected way
— through one of our Christmas Blessings outreaches.
Among the food she received that day was a New Testament in the Cebuano language. She was grateful for both, as her children were hungry
— physically and she was spiritually. However, the cult religion she had belonged to forbade reading the Bible. Still, her hunger for truth was
stronger than fear, and she began to read God’s Word in secret.
When we had Bible study near her home, Jhocery would press her ear against the wall, quietly listening to the teaching and discussion from inside
her house with out any neighbors seeing her. One day, deeply convicted and compelled by the Holy Spirit, she sought us out and found us at Subangan.
With tears and conviction, she said she didn’t want to wait any longer — she wanted to surrender her life to Jesus and be born again.
