Christine, a young woman under 30, is bravely battling kidney failure. She currently requires dialysis twice a week, a monthly blood transfusion, and daily medications to sustain her life. The cost of her ongoing care totals about $180 per month.
Christine’s health challenges stem from a difficult past marked by abuse that caused serious internal injuries. Though she has since undergone multiple surgeries and is now healed and “dry,” the years of recurrent and complex urinary tract infections have caused lasting kidney damage. Despite all she has endured, Christine continues to face each day with courage and faith. Her determination to live, heal, and trust God through her suffering is truly inspiring.

Feeding Sponsorship

Feeding Hope in Pandan

In the poor squatter village of Pandan, many children go without three meals a day. Many are malnourished, while others simply live in constant hunger.

The history: To help meet this need, we began providing daily meals for any child who would come — both lunch and dinner. Soon, 20–50 children were gathering for each meal. During these times, they learned to greet one another, pray before eating, listen to a Bible story, share one good thing about their day, wash their plates, and say “thank you.”

Today, our program continues to serve nutritious after-school meals for hungry children in Pandan. This takes place at our supervised activity area called Subangan Cares. Many of these kids still struggle with malnutrition due to a lack of calories, protein, and calcium, but through these meals, we’re nourishing both their bodies and their spirits. Each time they come, they also receive “spiritual food” — a short Bible lesson shared with love.

From Hardship to Hope

By Stephanie S
My name is Stephanie, and I’m currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology. My journey hasn’t been easy—growing up in poverty, losing my father to suicide, surviving domestic violence, and living without basic needs—but through it all, my faith in God and the love of my family, have kept me going.

When I was eight, my father took his own life, and our family was thrown into deeper hardship. My sister Mae was taken from our home, and my mother became our sole provider, struggling doing whatever she could—scraping coconuts, collecting recyclable just to feed us and send us to school. We faced terrifying experiences, including a violent attack on my mother that forced us to flee our home. There were times I had to stop school because we couldn’t afford transportation to go to school from our temporary locations. My oldest brother became involved with drugs, bringing turmoil into our home. At one point, I was left alone with no food or money while my younger brother was hospitalized hours away with dengue fever where he nearly died.

High school brought more challenges—bullying because of rumors about my father and brother, frequent absences, and emotional struggles. We stayed in borrowed spaces with no idea where we belonged. My oldest sister Grace worked at a plywood factory for a while and left to work in Malaysia as a domestic helper, hoping to ease our financial burdens. But it was too much for her—she suffered a nervous breakdown and was diagnosed with schizophrenia. She was sent home.

But Mae (the middle sibling) never gave up on me. Though she was removed from our home related to abuse, she was able to go to school and complete college. She believed in my dreams and promised to support me through college if I finished Grade 12. When the pandemic hit, she lost her job, but she still shared everything she had. Later, she found work again in the big city and kept her promise taking me in and paying for my college education. Now she has a better job back in our home city, but she struggles to support my room and board and all the tuition and school fees since I am far away from her now. Financial hardship continues to be a barrier. I am now in my last year and a half of college, and the expenses are more than usual. I am reaching out for support so I can complete my education and break the cycle of poverty in my family.

It hasn’t been easy—I’ve faced academic setbacks—but Mae’s love and encouragement reminded me why I started. Today, I’m more determined than ever to finish my degree and build a better future, not just for myself, but for my family and community. I carry the pain of our broken past, the strength of my mother, the love of a sister who never gave up on me, and the presence of a God who rescued me. I want to build a life that honors the sacrifices made for me.

I need your help to complete my final year of college.

$300/month will help cover
Tuition/fees and school supplies

A stable, focused learning environment

Your support can change my life—and help me break the cycle of hardship for good.
Thank you for believing in me.

Her mother, Jecel, passed away from a thyroid storm when Theresa was just nine years old. Jecel was only 34. Before her passing, she had remarried a kind man, and together they had three sons — Theresa’s younger brothers. After Jecel’s death, Theresa’s extended family took her in, but life was difficult. She moved from one household to another and was often expected to work hard just to earn her keep. Through these hardships, Theresa endured mistreatment and emotional pain, yet she never lost her faith.

Now as an adult, Theresa lives at the church, where she assists Nedy, the youth and music minister. She is active in the local youth group and is highly recommended by church leaders for college sponsorship. God continues to move powerfully in her heart and life, shaping her into a young woman of deep compassion and resilience.

Here is a note from Theresa in her own words:

"I'm going to study social work at the Christ the King University here in Gingoog City. I like music and admiring God's creation, watching the beautiful sky, mountains, and sea. It is satisfying to the soul, the beauty is so good, it is imperfect, but yet WOW! My life is not as easy, yet God never lets me down. He loves me and cares for me despite my behavior. I have learned I should not worry about anything, but pray for it and trust God, for the Lord will bless me with His love and my future is in His hands and I know It will be good."

Job Sponsorship: Jhocery

Meet Jhocery

Jhocery is a mother of eight and a woman whose heart burns with passion for serving Jesus. Her story of faith began in an unexpected way — through one of our Christmas Blessings outreaches.

Among the food she received that day was a New Testament in the Cebuano language. She was grateful for both, as her children were hungry — physically and she was spiritually. However, the cult religion she had belonged to forbade reading the Bible. Still, her hunger for truth was stronger than fear, and she began to read God’s Word in secret.

When we had Bible study near her home, Jhocery would press her ear against the wall, quietly listening to the teaching and discussion from inside her house with out any neighbors seeing her. One day, deeply convicted and compelled by the Holy Spirit, she sought us out and found us at Subangan. With tears and conviction, she said she didn’t want to wait any longer — she wanted to surrender her life to Jesus and be born again.

Right then and there, we prayed with her as she gave her heart to the Lord. Knowing she would be forsaking her former religion, she boldly asked to be baptized immediately. She had counted the cost — and chose Jesus with joy.

Since that day, Jhocery has been on fire for the Lord, sharing the Good News wherever she goes. She continues to glow and grow in her faith by attending weekend Bible school and participating in both personal and group Bible studies.

As our ministry expanded, we prayed for someone dependable and faithful to help — and Jhocery came to mind. She now serves as our assistant, working four hours each afternoon, Monday through Friday, earning $4.50 per day. Her work and joyful spirit are a blessing to everyone she serves.

Widow & Orphan Sponsorship

Our Widow, Widower, and Orphan Sponsorships began naturally — born out of compassion as we cared for those in our community and responded to the needs that arose. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of walking alongside many who have faced deep loss and hardship. One of the first was a 92-year-old woman who had no family support during the last two years of her life. We were able to provide her with food, care, and most importantly, share the hope of Jesus with her. Before she passed, she came to know the Lord — and today, she is home in His presence.

After the passing of one of the elders in the local church, his surviving wife — a faithful and active believer — struggled to meet her daily needs. She continued to serve by leading Bible studies, and we were able to support her for a time until she began receiving a stipend through Compassion’s program and additional help from her adult children.

Another time, one of our Bible study attendees unexpectedly passed away at just 34 years old, leaving behind her husband and four young children. Her husband had recently lost his job due to a factory closure and was desperate to provide for his family. We offered him a maintenance position at the church and Subangan, where he could both work and oversee his children. For the next four years, he served faithfully near his home, able to earn an income while remaining close to his kids. During that time, we also helped care for the children in special ways.

Through the years, many other widows and families have faced sudden and difficult situations. Whenever possible, we have stepped in to help — offering food, work, care, and the comfort of Christ’s love.

Judith's Family

Some of you may remember Judith, a faithful woman who has attended our Bible studies for many years. In 2013, we were blessed to help her receive surgery to remove her goiter — a life-changing moment for her and her family.

In 2022, tragedy struck when Judith’s husband passed away from electrocution, leaving her widowed and unsure how she would care for her five children. During that difficult time, we helped by providing monthly rice support and later offered her a job at the church, giving her a steady way to provide for her family.

Judith now serves by cleaning the church and its surroundings daily, a role that has become essential — especially as Pastor Ben and Pastor Edith have grown older. Her self-motivation, strong work ethic, and joyful heart have made her a true blessing to everyone at the church. The leadership speaks highly of her, offering glowing feedback and gratitude for her consistent, cheerful help.

Her children are doing well: two have launched and live on a different island, and the three that remain are active members of the church —“They never miss!”

To continue supporting Judith and her family, we need $171 per month.

Your sponsorship helps provide steady income so Judith can continue serving faithfully, supporting her children, and maintaining her joyful witness of God’s goodness.

Would you consider helping Judith continue her journey of faith and provision?

Bible Translation and Distribution

Philippine Bible Society

We have purchased hundreds of Cebuano Bibles, and have distributed them to tribal groups in the mountains, impoverished churches where many members can not afford their own bible, and as relief after typhoons that have destroyed many homes. These are very inexpensive in paper-back version $1.50 for NT, and $6 for a whole Bible.

Action Visaya

Because of the low education level in Pandan, we saw that many were interested in looking at picture books. When we got a copy of a bible done in comic book style it was a hit, even though it was in English. We contacted the publisher to see if they had it in Cebuano/Visayan, but they did not. So we started having it translated into the local language. We print it in color on a home printer and have it book bound and give it away free of charge to those interested in reading it. Each copy costs us $10 to print and bind. If you are interested in sponsoring bibles for free distribution please let me know.
